Factores que influyen en los esquemas de vacunación incompletos en niños atendidos en el CS Carlos Elizalde Cuenca, 2023

Abstract

Background: immunization is free and has allowed the control various diseases. However, caregivers don’t always bring their children on the appropriate dates to receive the vaccine corresponding to their age. General objective: to determine the factors influencing incomplete vaccination schedules in children attending the Carlos Elizalde Health Center. Methodology: analytical cross-sectional research with a sample of 255 caregiver of infants aged 0 to 5 years. Caregivers were asked to provide vaccination card, and a survey was administrated. The collected information was analyzed and presented in frequency and percentage tables using the SPSS program. The association of variables was determined the through the chi-square test, and the information was consolidated into customized tables. Results: regarding caregivers, those with the highest non-compliance were in the age groups of 20 to 39 years at 42,40%, females at 42%, and 19,60% were married. More than half of the infants didn’t complete the vaccination schedule, with the highest non-compliance in the older infant stage and the SRP vaccine at 14,50%. Concerning the head of the family‘s profession, “Employees without a university degree, with a medium technical background, small traders, or producers” had the highest non-compliance percentage at 48,20%, (>0.05). Conclusion: more than half of the infants had incomplete vaccination schedules, mostly during the older infant stage with the SRP vaccine. The head of the family’s profession doesn’t show significant values associated with non-compliance with the vaccination schedule, however, the mother’s level of education does.
