Abstract: | Background: In Ecuador the prevalence of diabetes is 5.5%. A person is at greater risk of
developing type 2 diabetes if they do not perform daily physical activity and are overweight or
obese. This is a risk factor that can be modified with adequate nutrition and frequent physical
activity. Objective: Identify the perception of adherence to medical-nutritional treatment in patients
of the diabetes club of the Julius Doepfner General Hospital in the city of Zamora. Methodological
design: It is a qualitative - phenomenological study, intentional sampling was used under the
criterion of theoretical saturation, the semi-structured interview was applied to ten people who
attend the diabetes club of the Julius Doepfner General Hospital, in the city of Zamora.
Subsequently, the coding and categorization of the criteria issued was carried out with the
technical support of the ATLAS.Ti application. Results: Women between the ages of 42 and 82
participated in this study, with a level of education ranging from primary, secondary, higher, and
fourth level. The participants indicated that the diet is not consistent with that of a person with
diabetes. Regarding the perception of medical-nutritional treatment, it is influenced by the
emotional support of family members and recommendations from health professionals.
Conclusions: Among the factors that influenced adherence to medical-nutritional treatment, the
following stand out: age in the elderly, lack of commitment to treatment, myths or erroneous beliefs
about insulin, difficulty walking. |
Description: | Antecedentes: En el Ecuador la prevalencia de diabetes es del 5,5%. Una persona tiene mayor
riesgo de desarrollar diabetes tipo 2 si no realiza actividad física diaria y tiene sobrepeso u
obesidad, este es un factor de riesgo que se puede modificar con una adecuada alimentación y
actividad física frecuente. Objetivo: Identificar la percepción de la adherencia al tratamiento
médico-nutricional en los pacientes del club de diabetes del Hospital General Julius Doepfner de
la ciudad de Zamora. Diseño metodológico: es un estudio cualitativo - fenomenológico, se utilizó
un muestreo intencional bajo el criterio de saturación teórica, se aplicó la entrevista
semiestructurada a diez personas que asisten al club de diabetes del Hospital General Julius
Doepfner, en la ciudad de Zamora. Posteriormente se realizó la codificación y categorización de
los criterios emitidos con el soporte técnico del aplicativo ATLAS.Ti. Resultados: En el presente
estudio participaron mujeres con edades comprendidas entre los 42 y 82 años, con un nivel de
instrucción que venía desde primaria, secundaria, superior, y cuarto nivel. Las participantes
indicaron que la alimentación no es acorde a la de una persona con diabetes. Respecto a la
percepción sobre tratamiento médico-nutricional, éste se encuentra influenciado por el apoyo
emocional de sus familiares y recomendaciones por parte de los profesionales de salud.
Conclusiones: entre los factores que influyeron en la adherencia al tratamiento médiconutricional se destacan: la edad en el adulto mayor, falta de compromiso en el tratamiento, mitos
o creencias erróneas sobre la insulina, dificultad al caminar. |
