Abstract
The main purpose of this research is to describe the family functionality and social skills of the
evaluated students of the Abelardo Tamariz Crespo Educational Unit in the period 2023-2024.
The study adopted a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental design and a descriptive
scope. The population under study included a total of 100 students in the eighth, ninth and
tenth grades of Basic General Education, belonging to the evening and morning sections, in
the stages of early and middle adolescence. For data collection, two instruments were used:
the FF-SIL, intended to determine the perception of family functioning, and the social skills
evaluation scale, used to identify the types of social skills predominant in students. The results
revealed the categorization of family functionality, highlighting that the one that predominates
in the students is the moderately functional category. Regarding social skills, it will be observed
that they are generally at a normal level; In the same way, among all dimensions, dimension
VI prevails, referring to planning skills where they are at a normal level. Likewise, within a low
level, dimension III, which encompasses skills related to feelings. Therefore, the need for the
implementation in educational institutions of strategies and programs that comprehensively
address the development of skills related to feelings in the student group.
Resumen
La presente investigación tiene por propósito principal, describir la funcionalidad familiar y las
habilidades sociales de los estudiantes evaluados de la Unidad Educativa Abelardo Tamariz
Crespo en el periodo 2023-2024. El estudio adoptó un enfoque cuantitativo, con un diseño de
tipo no experimental y un alcance descriptivo. La población objeto de estudio comprendió un
total de 100 estudiantes de octavo, noveno y décimo de Educación General Básica,
pertenecientes a las secciones vespertina y matutina, en las etapas de adolescencia inicial y
media. Para la recopilación de datos, se emplearon dos instrumentos: el FF-SIL, destinado a
determinar la percepción sobre funcionamiento familiar, y la escala de evaluación de
habilidades sociales, utilizada para identificar los tipos de habilidades sociales predominantes
en los estudiantes. Los resultados revelaron la categorización de la funcionalidad familiar,
destacando que la que predomina en los estudiantes es la categoría moderadamente
funcional. Respecto a las habilidades sociales, se observó que de manera general se
encuentran en un nivel normal; de la misma manera de entre todas las dimensiones se
encuentra prevaleciendo la dimensión VI haciendo referencia a las habilidades de
planificación en donde se encuentran en un nivel normal. Así también dentro de un nivel bajo
la dimensión III, que engloba las habilidades relacionadas con los sentimientos. Por ello la
necesidad de la implementación en las instituciones educativas de estrategias y programas
que aborden de manera integral el desarrollo de habilidades relacionadas con los sentimientos
en el grupo estudiantil.
