| Abstract: | Recent research has found that a large number of university students are forced to migrate
due to academic reasons, therefore they are exposed to a series of factors that can affect
self-esteem and happiness, which are two important variables within psychological
well-being. The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between
self-esteem and happiness in students of the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in a situation
of internal migration at the University of Cuenca, academic year 2022-2023. The approach
was quantitative, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational design. For the
analysis of the variables, descriptive and correlational statistics were used, with which
percentages, relative and absolute frequencies, arithmetic mean and Pearson's correlation
coefficient were obtained. The study involved 115 students in a situation of internal
migration, to whom the Alarcón Happiness Scale and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale
were applied. The results showed a significant and positive relationship between the
variables. It is concluded that the higher the levels of self-esteem, the higher the levels of
happiness in psychology students in a situation of internal migration. |
| Description: | Recientes investigaciones han encontrado que un gran número de estudiantes universitarios
se ven en la necesidad de migrar debido a motivos académicos, por consiguiente, están
expuestos a una serie de factores que pueden afectar a la autoestima y la felicidad, que son
dos variables importantes dentro del bienestar psicológico. El propósito de esta
investigación es determinar la relación entre la autoestima y la felicidad en estudiantes de la
Licenciatura en Psicología en situación de migración interna de la Universidad de Cuenca,
período lectivo 2022-2023. El enfoque fue cuantitativo, con un diseño no experimental,
transversal y de alcance correlacional. Para el análisis de las variables se empleó la
estadística descriptiva y correlacional, con las cuales se obtuvieron porcentajes, frecuencias
relativas y absolutas, la media aritmética y el coeficiente de correlación de Pearson. En el
estudio participaron 115 estudiantes en situación de migración interna, a quienes se les
aplicó la Escala de Felicidad de Alarcón y la Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg. Los
resultados demostraron una relación significativa y positiva entre las variables. Se concluye
que, a mayores niveles de autoestima, mayores niveles de felicidad en los estudiantes de
psicología en situación de migración interna. |
