| Abstract: | Family functioning is the ability of a family system to change its power structure, relationships,
norms and rules in response to the changing situation and evolution of its family structure. In
contrast, frustration tolerance is the ability to accept failure through self-regulation and
emotional well-being. The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between
family functioning and frustration tolerance of adolescents in their second year of high school.
It had a quantitative approach, non-experimental cross-sectional design and correlational
scope. The population was made up of 86 participants selected by non-probabilistic
convenience sampling. The instruments used were a sociodemographic sheet, the Family
Cohesion and Adaptability Evaluation Scale (FACES III) and the Frustration Tolerance Scale
(TOFRU). The results within family functionality showed a united family typology with 31%,
while 53% belonged to a chaotic family typology. In this way, the type of family functionality is
within a balanced level with 53%. Regarding frustration tolerance, the participants present low
levels of frustration tolerance at 47%. Finally, the main finding of the research was that no
significant correlation was found between family functioning and frustration tolerance in
adolescents in their second year of high school at the U. E. Manuel J. Calle. |
| Description: | El funcionamiento familiar es la capacidad de un sistema familiar para cambiar su estructura
de poder, relaciones, normas y reglas en respuesta a la situación cambiante y la evolución de
su estructura familiar. Por el contrario, la tolerancia a la frustración es la capacidad de aceptar
el fracaso mediante la autorregulación y el bienestar emocional. El objetivo de esta
investigación fue determinar la relación entre el funcionamiento familiar y la tolerancia a la
frustración de los adolescentes de segundo de bachillerato. Tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo,
diseño transversal no experimental y alcance correlacional. La población estuvo conformada
por 86 participantes seleccionados por un muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Los
instrumentos utilizados fueron una ficha sociodemográfica, la Escala de Evaluación de
Cohesión y Adaptabilidad Familiar (FACES III) y la Escala de Tolerancia a la Frustración
(TOFRU). Los resultados dentro de la funcionalidad familiar arrojaron una tipología familiar
unida con un 31%, mientras que un 53% pertenecía a una tipología familiar caótica. De este
modo, el tipo de funcionalidad familiar se encuentra dentro de un nivel balanceado con un
53%. En cuanto a la tolerancia a la frustración, los participantes presentan niveles bajos de
tolerancia a la frustración con un 47%. Finalmente, el principal hallazgo de la investigación
fue que no se encontró una correlación significativa entre el funcionamiento familiar y la
tolerancia a la frustración en los adolescentes de segundo de bachillerato de la U. E. Manuel
J. Calle. |
