| Abstract: | This study investigated the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the tourism sector of the Alausí canton, Ecuador. The pandemic has had a significant effect on it, such as the adoption of biosecurity measures and restrictions on mobility, which has led to an impact on tourism services in the area. However, after the decrease in infections and the relaxation of restrictions, the owners have undertaken the opening of new tourism businesses with the aim of reactivating the local economy. The study was carried out using a qualitative descriptive-comparative approach and cross-sectional scope. Semi-structured recorded interviews were used, which were subsequently transcribed and classified into categories of analysis using coding units. The main objective is to analyze the changes that occurred in the tourist services of Alausí after the Covid-19 pandemic. The results of the study demonstrated the impacts and transformations that the tourism sector in Alausí has experienced as a result of the pandemic. The conclusions focus on the adaptations made by tourism actors in response to the crisis, and emphasize the need to adopt effective public policy at the tourism level by local authorities.

| Description: | El presente estudio investigó el impacto de la pandemia del Covid-19 en el sector turístico del cantón Alausí, Ecuador. La pandemia ha tenido un efecto significativo en el mismo, como la adopción de medidas de bioseguridad y restricciones en la movilidad, lo que ha llevado a generar un impacto en los servicios turísticos de la zona. Sin embargo, tras la disminución de los contagios y la flexibilización de las restricciones, los propietarios han emprendido la apertura de nuevos negocios turísticos con el objetivo de reactivar la economía local. El estudio se llevó a cabo mediante un enfoque cualitativo descriptivo-comparativo y de alcance transversal. Se utilizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas grabadas, que posteriormente fueron transcritas y clasificadas en categorías de análisis mediante unidades de codificación. El objetivo principal es analizar los cambios ocurridos en los servicios turísticos de Alausí después de la pandemia del Covid-19. Los resultados del estudio demostraron los impactos y transformaciones que ha experimentado el sector turístico en Alausí como resultado de la pandemia. Las conclusiones se enfocan en las adaptaciones realizadas por los actores turísticos en respuesta a la crisis, y enfatiza en la necesidad de adoptar política pública efectiva a nivel turístico por parte de las autoridades locales.
