| Abstract: | Cleft lip-alveolar-palatal fissures (FLAP) are one of the most frequent congenital malformations nationwide. Its etiology is complex and both genetic and environmental factors are directly associated with a higher number of births with this anomaly. The aim of this work is to determine the prevalence of FLAP in pediatric patients of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital in the city of Cuenca in the period 2016-2020. For this purpose, the collection of medical records of patients with FLAP under17 years of age between the period of 2016 to 2020 was carried out. The data obtained from the 582 records, were subjected to statistical analysis using the computer program IBM SPSS Statistics version 20; gender, age range, type and location of the fissure were analyzed. The results showed that 69.6% of the study sample belonged to the male gender and 30.4% to the female gender. The highest prevalence in age corresponds to the year with a percentage of 24.7%. According to its location, the most common type of cleft corresponds to the mixed cleft with 43.13%; and finally, according to the type, cleft of the hard palate and soft palate with unilateral cleft lip was the one with the most reported cases with a percentage corresponding to 24.2%. |
| Description: | Las fisuras labio-alveolo-palatales (FLAP) son una de las malformaciones congénitas más frecuentes a nivel nacional. Su etiología es compleja y tanto factores genéticos como ambientales, se encuentran directamente asociados a un mayor número de nacimientos con esta anomalía. El objetivo de este trabajo es determinar la prevalencia de FLAP en pacientes pediátricos del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso de la ciudad de Cuenca en el periodo 2016-2020. Para ello, se llevó a cabo la recolección de historias clínicas de pacientes con FLAP menores a17 años entre el periodo del 2016 al 2020. Los datos obtenidos de los 582 expedientes, fueron sometidos a un análisis estadístico mediante el programa de computador IBM SPSS Statistics versión 20; se analizó el género, rango de edad, tipo y localización de la fisura. Como resultados, se obtuvo que el 69,6% de la muestra de estudio pertenece al género masculino y, el 30,4% pertenece al femenino. La mayor prevalencia en edad corresponde al año con un porcentaje del 24,7%. Según su localización el tipo de fisura más común corresponde a la fisura mixta con un 43.13%; y finalmente, según el tipo, la fisura del paladar duro y del paladar blando con labio leporino unilateral, fue la que más casos reportados tuvo con un porcentaje correspondiente al 24.2%. |
