Diseño de un sistema señalético para el museo Historia de la Medicina Guillermo Aguilar M. de la ciudad de Cuenca

Abstract

The research project is based on the need to create a system of signage, in order to increase tourism in the museum of medicine in the city of Cuenca. The project includes some proposals in terms of signage that could improve tourism and visit the place. In addition, to prioritize the sense of conservation of historical places in the city, since it contains tools which were of first use in relation to medicine. For this reason, the interest of focusing the proposal of signage systems, current and attractive to the public will encourage the visit and conservation of heritage that today is not very visited. The Museum of Medicine "Guillermo Aguilar Maldonado" of the city of Cuenca is located on April 12th Avenue and Solano Avenue. Formerly, the place functioned as the "San Vicente de Paúl" Hospital, later used by the Community of the Sisters of Charity, who specialized in administering and nursing hospitals (2004, p. 43). This hospital was inaugurated on October 27, 1872 and operated until 1977. Then it was given by loan from the Ministry of Health to the Society for the History of Medicine of Azuay, to become the Museum of Medicine.
