| Abstract: | Background: Sexual function is a topic that is not addressed at the time of care in prenatal and postnatal care. The type of childbirth, injuries to the perineum and the physiological changes that accompany the puerperium can negatively influence the resumption of a full sexual life.
Objective: To determine the relationship between the perception of labor pain and the sexual function of patients who attend the Luis Gabriel Davila Hospital in the city of Tulcán in the period March - May 2022.
Methodological design: A quantitative, analytical cross-sectional investigation was carried out, which allowed determining the relationship between the perception of labor pain and sexual function. A form was prepared containing the study variables in relation to sociodemographic data and gynecological data. A validated Likert-type questionnaire was used to assess women's sexual activity (EVAS - M); In relation to labor pain, the visual analog pain scale (VAS) was used. After data collection, the information was reviewed and analyzed using the SPSS22 program.
Results: 39.10% of the participants obtained a score of less than 38 points in the EVAS- M evaluation. 94.53% experienced severe labor pain, only 5.47% had moderate pain, according to the EVA´s pain scale. There is a statistically significant relationship between parity (p ≤0.05) and female sexual function. There is no significant statistical relationship (p>0.05) between the perception of labor pain and the sexual function of the patients who were treated at the Luis Gabriel Dávila Hospital in the city of Tulcán between the period March - May 2022.
Conclusion: The findings obtained in this research show the importance of the in-depth study of female sexual function, as well as socio-demographic, gynecological and labor pain characteristics. The results obtained are discussed in relation to the results of female sexual function in other contexts. |
| Description: | Antecedentes: La vía del parto, las lesiones en el periné y los cambios fisiológicos que acompañan al puerperio, pueden influir negativamente en la reanudación de una vida sexual plena.
Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre la percepción del dolor de parto y la función sexual de las pacientes que acuden al Hospital Luis Gabriel Dávila de la ciudad de Tulcán en el período marzo – mayo del 2022.
Diseño metodológico: Se realizó una investigación cuantitativa, analítica de corte transversal, que permitió determinar la relación de la percepción del dolor de parto con la función sexual. Se elaboró un formulario donde constan las variables de estudio en relación con datos sociodemográficos y datos ginecobstétricas. Se utilizó un cuestionario validado tipo Likert para la valoración de la actividad sexual de la mujer (EVAS - M); en relación con el dolor de parto se empleó la escala analógica visual del dolor (EVA). Posterior a la recolección de datos se procedió a la revisión y análisis de la información, mediante el programa SPSS22.
Resultados: El 39.10% de los participantes obtuvieron una calificación menor de 38 puntos en la evaluación EVAS-M. El 94.53% experimentó un dolor de parto severo, solamente el 5.47% tuvo un dolor moderado, de acuerdo con la escala de dolor EVA. Existe una relación estadística significativa entre la paridad (p ≤0.05) y la función sexual femenina. No existe una relación estadística significativa (p>0.05) entre la percepción del dolor del parto y la función sexual de las pacientes que fueron atendidas en el Hospital Luis Gabriel Dávila de la ciudad de Tulcán entre el período marzo – mayo del 2022.
Conclusión: Los hallazgos obtenidos en esta investigación evidencian la importancia del estudio a profundidad de la función sexual femenina, así como de las características socio demográficas, ginecobstétricas y del dolor del parto. Los resultados obtenidos son discutidos en relación con los hallazgos de la función sexual femenina en otros contextos. |
