Abstract: | Objective: To determine the prevalence of attempted suicide in patients admitted to the Centro de Reposo y Adicciones (CRA), Cuenca March - July 2012.- Methods and materials: It is a descriptive quantitative study, which used the survey for collecting personal data and a test "Scale of attempted suicide (Beck et. al)". With the data we use software Epi Info 3.5.3. and Microsoft Excel 2007 to make a database.- Results: We studied to 214 patients and we observed that 61 of them (28.5%) had at least one suicide attempt at some point in their lives. Among the socio-demographic risk factors for attempted suicide group, we found that the average age was 32.63 years (SD: 15.31). It was found that most male had suicide attempt and they had a secondary academic instruction, belonged to the urban sector, most were employed, and 45.90% of them were single. It was noted that there were more suicide attempts in those suffering from mood disorder. The most common method of suicide for men was the use of sharp weapons and for women the use of pesticides and poisons. Finally we analyzed the severity of suicide attempt and we found that 57.38% of patients who attempted suicide had a moderate risk to die.- Conclusions: From the 214 patients of the study, 28.50% had a suicide attempt at some point in their lives.AU |
Description: | Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia de intento de suicidio en pacientes que ingresan en el CRA, Cuenca, Marzo - Julio 2012.- Métodos y materiales: Estudio cuantitativo descriptivo, donde se utilizó la encuesta para la recolección de los datos personales y el test Escala de tentativa de suicidio (Beck et. al). Se realizó una base de datos mediante el software Epi Info versión 3.5.3. y Microsoft Excel 2007.-Resultados: Se estudiaron a 214 pacientes de los cuales 61 (28.5%), tuvieron por lo menos un intento de suicidio en algún momento de su vida. Entre los factores de riesgo sociodemográficos para el grupo con tentativa de suicidio, se encontró que la media de edad era de 32,63 años (DE: 15.31), la mayoría de sexo masculino, con instrucción académica secundaria, del sector urbano, y tenían empleo; en cuanto al estado civil el 45.90% de los pacientes eran solteros. Se encontró mayor intento de suicidio en los pacientes con trastorno del estado de ánimo. El método de suicidio más utilizado por los hombres fue armas corto-punzantes y por las mujeres la intoxicación con plaguicidas y venenos. En cuanto a la gravedad del intento de suicidio, el 57.38% de los pacientes tuvieron un riesgo moderado de morir.- Conclusiones: De los 214 pacientes internados en el CRA, que participaron en el estudio, el 28,50% tuvieron un intento de suicidio en algún momento de su vida.AU |
