Análisis de la curva de Phillips y comercio en el Ecuador. Período 1970 – 2020

Abstract

The Phillips curve (CP) proposes an inverse relationship between inflation and unemployment, in this context for Ecuador there is some uncertainty about the fulfillment of this relationship. An analysis is presented covering a period of 50 years from 1970 to 2020. In order to verify the existence of this relationship and the possible causes of a breach in the theory. Exports, imports and PIB variation are the variables that support the study at the time of comparing the structural breakpoints proposed in the time series study. The main results of the analysis present an irregularity: there are periods of time in which the theory is fulfilled due to certain macroeconomic conditions of the country, however, there is also a break in the relationship between the two variables in other periods
