Estrategias para propender a la sustentabilidad de las áreas verdes. El caso de Cuenca - Ecuador

Abstract

The design of green areas has focused in recent years on merely framing its function as a space for recreation and leisure, however, currently due to the environmental problems of cities, the planner has seen the need to seek sustainable alternatives, since this new approach seeks to solve current environmental, social and economic problems. It is here where sustainable green areas are a correct response since they are "valuable systems that contribute and improve the quality of the environment in the environmental and social aspect, that contain varied activities for the entire population, and their design avoids wasting the resources of the environment. planet” (Eggers, 2015, p.10). For this reason, the present degree work proposes strategies to promote the sustainability of the green areas of the city of Cuenca, starting with an investigation in relation to the concepts related to sustainability, together with an analysis of the regulations in relation to the free transfers of land, thus reinforcing theoretical knowledge in relation to sustainable green areas and land endowment. Likewise, to know the current state of the green areas, three parks have been selected from the urban, neighborhood and children's hierarchies.With all the information collected, fifteen strategies were developed to promote the sustainability of green areas according to the information obtained from both the field survey and the evaluation using the Eggers indicators, and the work concludes with the application of the strategies necessary for the Huagra-huma Neighborhood Park, this allowed us to have a first approach to the development of this titling work
