Abstract: | Background: traffic accidents had been increased worldwide, being the bikers,
motorcyclists, and pedestrians the more affected, because of the direct body exposure.
Objective: to determinate the prevalence and characterization of the traffic accidents in
motorcycles. Cuenca, 2018-2020 period.
Methodology: observational, descriptive and transversal study. The data included all the
traffic accidents expedient registered on the EMOV EP system (Empresa Pública Municipal
de Movilidad, Tránsito y Transporte) from Cuenca. Sociodemographic variables and study
variables (individual, environmental and road variables) were collected. The data were
processed in the SPSS program evaluation version, the data are presented in tables, using
frequencies, percentages, standard deviation and arithmetic average.
Results: motorcycle accidents occurred more frequently in men (96%) between 20-39 years
of age (82.7%), with the most frequent type of accident being a crash (68%); these accidents
predominated on weekdays (67.4%), in a good road condition 94.8%. Of the motorcycle
drivers, 86.7% were only injured and only 16.7% were drinking alcohol at the time of the
accident.
Conclusions: the most number of motorcycle accidents happened in men between 20-39
years old, between Monday to Friday working hours, with a minimum of deads; this accidents
were not related with road conditions nor weather conditions. |
Description: | Antecedentes: los accidentes de tránsito han incrementado a nivel mundial, siendo los más
afectados ciclistas, motociclistas, y peatones, debido a su exposición corporal directa.
Objetivo: determinar la prevalencia y caracterización de los accidentes de tránsito en
motocicletas. Cuenca, periodo 2018-2020.
Metodología: estudio observacional, descriptivo, transversal. Los datos incluyeron todos
los expedientes de accidentes de tránsito registrados en el sistema Empresa Pública
Municipal de Movilidad, Tránsito y Transporte de Cuenca EMOV EP. Se recogieron las
variables sociodemográficas y variables del estudio (individuales, ambientales y viales). Los
datos fueron procesados en el programa SPSS versión evaluación, los datos se presentan
en tablas, se usaron frecuencias, porcentajes, desviación estándar y media aritmética.
Resultados: los accidentes en motocicleta se dieron con mayor frecuencia en hombres
(96%) entre los 20-39 años (82,7%), siendo el tipo de accidente más frecuente el choque
(68%); estos siniestros predominaron entre los días de la semana (67,4%), en una condición
vial buena 94,8%. El 86,7% de los conductores de motocicleta presentaron únicamente
lesiones, al momento del suceso solo el 16,7% presentaban ingesta de alcohol.
Conclusiones: el mayor número de accidentes de motocicleta se dio en hombres de 20-
39 años, entre lunes a viernes en horario laboral, con mínimos fallecimientos; estos
siniestros no se atribuyeron a la mala condición vial ni atmosférica. |
