Abstract: | Background: The university students face changes in their bio-psycho-social
sphere and these changes can act as risk or protective factors against toxic
substance use. It can be noted that alcohol consumption gains strength in the
university community, so it is timely to conduct a research to determine how this
risky behavior affects the family and psychological environment of students.
Objectives: to determine the prevalence of alcohol consumption and associated
risk factors in Medicine students.
Methods and materials: An observational, analytical and cross-sectional
investigation was carried out. The universe is made up of students of the Medicine
career and the sample is made up of 196 students randomly selected. The
information was collected through an information collection form. The data was
analyzed and tabulated in the SPSS v25 program.
Results: 64.8% of university students present a low-risk consumption of alcohol.
While 35.2% present a risk consumption of alcohol of which 52.9% belong to families
with family dysfunction, 66.2% present depressive symptomatology, 67.6% have
anxious symptoms and 66.2% have symptoms of stress. None of these factors
presents a statistically significant association.
Conclusions: It is concluded that 100% of participants have consumed alcohol, of
which 35% presented a risky consumption of alcohol similar to other studies found
and is not associated with family dysfunction, depression, anxiety and stress. |
Conclusiones: Se concluye que el 100% de participantes han consumido alcohol;
