Abstract: | Background: Dietary practices and body perception in people undergoing bariatric surgery are two fundamental determinants in their daily lives. Through their experiences it was possible to know the process of change in their nutritional status and body perception, and the impact of the intervention.
Objective: To describe the dietary practices and body perception in post bariatric surgery patients of the outpatient clinic of the Hospital Universitario del Río, December 2021 - March 2022.
Methods: The present study is a descriptive qualitative study, the sample consisted of outpatients of the Nutrition department of the Hospital Universitario del Río in the period December 2021 to March 2022, the study consisted of ten participants, after accepting their participation and signing the informed consent, an unstructured interview was conducted, was audio recorded and transcribed textually.
Results: One hundred percent of the participants have changed their eating practices independently of the time after surgery, and report paying attention to the type of food and its portion when consuming it, in relation to body perception all agree that it has changed, that their new body image has positively influenced their self-esteem, however twenty percent of this group considers that they could still be better, if they spent more time in physical activity or they still present distortion of their body image.
Conclusions: eating practices and body perception after bariatric surgery have been completely modified in the most of the participant. |
Description: | Antecedentes: Las practicas alimentarias y la percepción corporal en las personas sometidas a cirugía bariátrica son dos determinantes fundamentales en sus vidas cotidianas. A través de sus experiencias se pudo conocer el proceso de cambio en su estado nutricional y percepcion corporal y, el impacto de la intervención.
Objetivo: Describir las prácticas alimentarias y percepción corporal en pacientes post cirugía bariátrica de la consulta externa del Hospital Universitario del Río, diciembre 2021 - marzo 2022.
Métodos: El presente estudio es de tipo cualitativo descriptivo, la muestra se conformó con los pacientes de consulta externa de Nutriología del Hospital Universitario del Río en el periodo diciembre 2021 a marzo 2022, quedando conformada por diez participantes, quienes luego de aceptar su participación y firmar el consentimiento informado, se les realizó una entrevista no estructurada que fue grabada en audio y posterior transcripción textual.
Resultados: El cien por ciento de los participantes han cambio sus prácticas alimenticias independiente del tiempo post cirugía, refieren fijarse en el tipo de alimentos y la porción de los mismo al momento de consumirlos, en relación a la percepción corporal todos coindicen que ha cambiado, que su nueva imagen corporal ha influido de manera positiva en su autoestima, sin embargo, dos de ellos consideran que podrían estar mejor si realizarán más tiempo de actividad física.
Conclusiones: las prácticas alimentarias y la percepción corporal luego de la cirugía bariátrica han sido modificadas en su totalidad en la mayoría del participante. |
