| Abstract: | Main objective
To determine the prevalence and factors associated with chronic kidney disease in patients who attend the outpatient clinic at José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital, from October 2011 to June 2012.
Materials and methods
We performed across-sectional study. The sample was selected by sequential allocation. The size was calculated on the basis of the95% confidence level, 3% error of inference and 8% prevalence of the risk factor flower frequency. Data were obtained by a direct interview and they were analyzed using SPSS software.
Results
A total of 500 patients were included in this review, mean age 57 ±9 years, 62.2% were women.
The prevalence of the chronic kidney disease was 10.6%(CI95% 7.9 -13.3), 10.6% (CI95% 6.2 -15)in menand10.6% (CI 95%7.2 -14.0)in women.
The association between chronic kidney disease with hypertension provided RP: 2.21, CI95% 1.25 -3.90 and p=0.006, with type 2 diabetes mellitus RP: 2.7, CI95% 1.50-4.85and p=0.001, with RP autoimmune diseases: 2.59, CI 95% 1.00-6.74and p= 0.044, overweight, obesity RP: 0.58, CI 95% 0.32- 1.04and p= 0.063, and a family history of chronic kidney disease PR: 1.78, CI 95% 0.82 -3.89p= 0.141.
Conclusion
The prevalence of chronic kidney disease was 10.6% (95% CI7.9 -13.3) and it was significantly associated with hypertension and type 2diabetes mellitus. |
| Description: | Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia y factores asociados a enfermedad renal crónica en pacientes que acuden a la consulta externa del Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga, desde octubre de 2011 a junio de 2012.- Materiales y métodos;Se realizó un estudio transversal. La muestra se seleccionó por asignación secuencial. El tamaño se calculó sobre la base del 95% de confianza, 3% de error de inferencia y el 8% de prevalencia del factor de riesgo de más baja frecuencia. Los datos se obtuvieron por entrevista directa y se analizaron con el software SPSS.- Resultados: Se estudió 500 pacientes; edad promedio 57 ± 9 años; mujeres fueron 62.2%.- La prevalencia de enfermedad renal crónica fue 10.6% (IC 95% 7.9 - 13.3); en hombres 10.6% (IC 95% 6.2 - 15) yen mujeres 10.6% (IC 95% 7.2-14.0).- La asociación entre enfermedad renal crónica con hipertensión arterial proporcionó RP: 2.21, IC 95% 1.25 -3.90 yp= 0.006, con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 RP: 2.7, IC 95% 1.50 - 4.85 y p= 0.001, con las enfermedades autoinmunes RP: 2.59, IC 95% 1.00 6.74 y p= 0.044, con sobrepeso, obesidad RP: 0.58, IC 95% 0.32 1.04 y p= 0.063 e historia familiar de enfermedad renal crónica RP: 1.78, IC 95% 0.82 3.89 y p= 0.141. -Conclusión: La prevalencia de enfermedad renal crónica fue del 10.6% (IC 95% 7.9 - 13.3) asociándose significativamente con hipertensión arterial y diabetes mellitus tipo 2.au |
