| Abstract: | The objective of this research is to analyze the principles of cooperativism in
organizations of the Popular and Solidarity Economy of the Marcabelí canton. For
this purpose, the cases of the organizations COOPROMARC and COACMAR were
studied during the year 2019. The theoretical framework is based on the principles
of cooperativism and sociology of organizations, and the methodological design
consists of a qualitative case analysis, with a descriptive-exploratory level. The
results obtained show that cooperatives adopt the principles of open and voluntary
membership, economic participation, autonomy and independence, and
commitment to the community. Meanwhile, the principles of democratic control and
cooperation among cooperatives are applied to a lesser extent, and the principle of
education is only found in the financial sector organization. On the other hand, it is
evident that there are factors such as social networks and empathy that enhance the
incorporation of the principles of cooperativism in the case studies, while the lack of
participatory culture and the perception of authority limit the strengthening of these
principles. Finally, the findings show that the lack of participation and involvement
on the part of the members in their respective organizations limits full compliance
with the principles of cooperativism. |
| Description: | La presente investigación tiene como objetivo analizar los principios del
cooperativismo en organizaciones de la Economía Popular y Solidaría del cantón
Marcabelí. Para ello, se estudió los casos de las organizaciones COOPROMARC y
COACMAR durante el año 2019. El marco teórico se fundamenta en los principios
de cooperativismo y la sociología de las organizaciones y, el diseño metodológico
consiste en un análisis de casos de tipo cualitativo, con un nivel descriptivo –
exploratorio. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que, las cooperativas adoptan los
principios de membresía abierta y voluntaria, participación económica, autonomía e
independencia y compromiso con la comunidad. Mientras tanto, los principios de
control democrático y la cooperación entre cooperativas se aplican en menor
medida y, el principio de educación únicamente se da en la organización del sector
financiero. Por otro lado, se evidencia que existen factores como las redes sociales
y empatía que potencian la incorporación de los principios del cooperativismo en los
casos de estudio; mientras que, la cultura poco participativa y percepción sobre la
autoridad limitan el fortalecimiento de estos principios. Finalmente, los hallazgos
muestran que, la poca participación e involucramiento por parte de las y los socios
en sus respectivas organizaciones, limita el cumplimiento total de los principios del
cooperativismo. |
