| Abstract: | Technological progress promotes the creation of new tools for the development of various
activities. Architecture, not exempt from that, shows several new digital instruments that
allow the graphic representation and development of the architectural project. Authors
point out that, although it is believed that technology will enable the creation of new modes
of representation and transmission of information on how a project is built, it is impossible to
deny that architecture is thought and originated from the drawing. And it is well known that
the architect will always opt for that graphic “scratch” that the sketch represents and that
allows him to anticipate what the building can become.
Thus, this study aims to identify the principles that the architect of the modern movement,
Le Corbusier, transmits with his sketches in the initial stages of the architectural plan and
their impact on the final project. For the development of this research, an initial
documentary investigation will provide guidelines and general concepts related to the
sketch that result essential for the understanding of this document. Then, the evolution that
Le Corbusier went through throughout his training is documented, which serves as a premise
to understand him as a person and his work as an architect. Finally, we proceed with the
analysis of five projects designed by the architect, which have been selected as they have
become representing epitomes in his architectural work. The projects are analyzed in three
stages that allow us to understand the background, the evolutionary process of the sketch,
and its subsequent impact on the built element.
From the analysis of the sketch, the role that it has had is understood, not only as a graphic
element of architectural representation but also for its importance throughout the design
process. In fact, the drawing and its meaning have become something fundamental. Even
though at first glance it might look just like a few scratches, a drawing keeps, deep inside,
a lifetime of learning and knowledge, that is reflected in the architecture itself; in tangible
architectural elements that are converted into milestones in the world of architecture and
that reflects those values of Modern Architecture such as order, architectural rigour and
economy of materials |
| Description: | El avance tecnológico trae consigo la creación de nuevas herramientas para el desarrollo
de diversas actividades. La arquitectura, no exenta de ello, presenta un sinnúmero de
nuevos instrumentos digitales que permiten la representación gráfica y desarrollo del
proyecto arquitectónico. Autores señalan que, aunque se crea que la tecnología
posibilitará la creación de nuevos modos de representación y trasmisión de la información
del cómo se construye, es imposible negar que la arquitectura se piensa a partir del dibujo.
Y es que, el arquitecto siempre optará por aquel “rasguño” gráfico que representa el
boceto y que le permite adelantarse a lo que el edificio puede convertirse.
Así, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo identificar los principios que el arquitecto del
movimiento moderno, Le Corbusier, transmite con sus bocetos en las etapas iniciales del
proyecto arquitectónico y su repercusión en el proyecto final. Para ello se parte de una
investigación documental en la cual se obtienen pautas y conceptos generales
relacionados al boceto que resultan esenciales para la comprensión de este trabajo. A
continuación, se documenta la evolución por la cual atraviesa Le Corbusier a lo largo de
su formación que sirve como premisa para entender su persona y su quehacer como
arquitecto. Finalmente, se procede con el análisis de cinco obras del arquitecto, mismo
que han sido seleccionados por representar epítomes en su obra arquitectónica. Las obras
son analizadas en tres etapas que permiten comprender antecedentes, el proceso
evolutivo del boceto, y su posterior repercusión en la obra construida.
A partir del análisis del boceto, se comprende el papel que éste ha tenido, no solo como
elemento gráfico de representación arquitectónica sino también por su trascendencia a
lo largo del proceso de diseño. Con ello el dibujo y su significado se convierte en algo
fundamental, que, aunque a primera vista parecieren unos cuantos rayones, en su interior
guardan toda una vida de aprendizajes y conocimiento, que se ven reflejados en su
arquitectura misma; en elementos arquitectónicos tangibles convertidos en hitos en el
mundo de la arquitectura y que reflejan aquellos valores de la arquitectura moderna como
lo son el orden, el rigor arquitectónico y la economía de materiales |
