Abstract: | Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic response to treatment with the DRX9000 spinal decompression in patients with lumbar disc herniation at the Hospital Jose Carrasco Arteaga Cuenca, since this new method is being used for this problem.
Materials and Methods: Using a longitudinal descriptive study collected data from 128 patients diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation were treated with the DRX9000, the distribution by age, sex, occupation, marital status, education, degree of pain before and after treatment , level of injury, body mass index and therapeutic response.
Results: More than 2 / 3 were males, 57.2% and 42.8% of women with a ratio of approximately 3:1. In both sexes other age groups most affected were 31 to 60 years in 83.6%, with this back pain symptomatology by 60%, marital status slightly higher percentage of married compared to 78.9% singles with 14.8%.
The 40.63% was on the occupancy was represented by the workers of the company ERCO, followed with 16.41% for dependent activities are located within them are teachers, doctors, etc. 46.9% of the affected population had only secondary education, higher education 43.8% and 9.4% at primary level.
In relation to BMI for 53.1% of patients are overweight, when it comes to 36.7% are within the normal weight, 7.8% of patients with lumbar disc herniation are obese type I and 2, 3% obese type II. 56.3% of patients had their involvement at the level of L5-S1, 39.1% injury at L4-L5 and 4.7% at L3-L4.

Description: | Con un estudio descriptivo longitudinal se recopiló información de 128 pacientes diagnosticados de hernia discal lumbar en el área de Rehabilitación Física que recibieron tratamiento con el DRX9000, la distribución según la edad, sexo, ocupación, estado civil, instrucción, grado de dolor antes y después del tratamiento, nivel de lesión, índice de masa corporal y respuesta terapéutica. Resultados: más de las 2/3 partes correspondió al sexo masculino 57,2% y 42,8% de mujeres con una relación aproximada de 3:1. el grupo etario comprendido entre 31 y 60 años fue el más afectado con un 83,6%;con la sintomatología más presente la lumbalgia en un 60%,pacientes con el estado civil casados un 78,9%. El 40,63% de pacientes en cuanto a la ocupación estuvo representada por los obreros de la Empresa ERCO, seguida con un 16,41% por actividades dependientes dentro de ellas les ubicamos a profesores, doctores, etc. El 46,9% de la población afectada tuvo únicamente instrucción secundaria. En cuanto al IMC el 53,1% de pacientes tienen sobre peso. El 56,3% de los pacientes tuvieron su afectación a nivel de L5-S1. El 96,9% de la población de estudio refirió mejoría después de recibir el tratamiento. Únicamente el 3,1% creemos que no mejoró por no cumplir de manera correcta el protocolo de tratamiento |
