Abstract: | Background: lack of adherence to antiretroviral treatment is a global public health
problem, the leading cause of treatment failure, virological failure, hospitalization and
mortality associated with factors not identified locally.
Objectives: to determine the prevalence and associated factors with lack of
adherence to antiretroviral treatment in HIV / AIDS patients at the Vicente Corral
Moscoso Hospital, 2020 - 2021.
Methodology: cross-sectional analytical study in 165 patients with HIV / AIDS, the
sampling was non-probabilistic for convenience who met the inclusion criteria; the
Simplified Medication Adherence Questionnaire (SMAQ) assessed lack of adherence.
The data were analyzed in the SPSS 15 program using the prevalence ratio (PR) to
measure association with 95% CI and statistical significance p <0.05; the clauses
"Agreement of Use and Confidentiality - HIV cases" guaranteed confidentiality with the
approval of the bioethics committee.
Results: the prevalence of non-adherence was 64.24%, the age between 18 - 35
years prevailed with 61.8%, 8 out of 10 people were male, most of them mixed-race,
secondary education in half of the population, state 71.5% single civilian similar to
those who had a job; the poor doctor-patient relationship was the only factor that
showed an increase in probability but without statistical significance (PR: 1.56, 95%
CI: 1.39 - 1.75, p: 0.288).
Conclusions: more than half of the patients presented lack of adherence with the
SMAQ questionnaire, the factor with an increase in probability without statistical
significance was the poor doctor-patient relationship |
