Abstract: | The optimal allocation of resources is a transcendental challenge in all organizations
as they continually face multiple situations that require improvements to meet the demands,
create suitable environments and, above all, optimize costs. This this research makes
available the case of the University of Cuenca, a non-profit organization that provides
education of high standards and with a wide group of academic offers. This is one of the
many organizations that has presented a progressive growth in student demand and as a
result they have found the necessity to integrate mathematical models that allow an
optimization of their resources. The reallocation of them is the main alternative to cover the
demand. For this reason, a model has been proposed to optimize the capacity of the
University of Cuenca, it has been proven at the University of Cuenca with the Faculty of
Chemical Sciences. Likewise, the infrastructural resources, the teachers and the courses
given by the four careers of the faculty. It should be noted that the model is based on a
genetic algorithm, which allows relating individuals of a population (Variables) and at the
same time knowing their evolution under selection rules (restrictions), based on genetic and
natural principles, to obtain optimization of the respective installed capacity |
