Abstract: | Background: Hypertensive pregnancy syndrome are the leading causes of maternal
and perinatal morbidity and mortality worldwide.
Objective: To determine the frequency and clinical characteristics of hypertensive
pregnancy syndrome in pregnant women aged 20 to 40 years at the Vicente Corral
Moscoso Hospital in the period September 2019 to September 2020.
Methods: An analytical, retrospective, cross-sectional study was performed.
Information was collected from the clinical histories of 208 pregnant women with
hypertensive pregnancy syndrome, aged between 20 and 40 years attended at that
hospital, from September 2019 to September 2020. The information was taken in a
data collection form and then processed in the SPSS version 21 program. We worked
with the mean, standard deviation, for age and the statistician X2 for the relationship
between the variables.
Results: The frequency of hypertensive pregnancy syndrome was 5.4%. with a
predominance in pregnant woman aged 31 to 34 (37.1%), o mestizo ethnic group
(98.5%), with a partner stable (76%), from urban areas (66.3%). The predominant
hypertensive syndrome was preeclampsia with several severities (59.6%). The most
important clinical characteristic was arterial hypertension (66.8%) The outstanding risk
factor was primiparity (31.7%). Sociodemographics did not show a statistically
significant relationship with the clinical characteristics.
Conclusions: The frequency of hypertensive pregnancy syndrome in the study
population is high and are mainly associated with several factors such as: obesity,
primiparity, history of preeclampsia, multiple pregnancies |
