Abstract: | This research studies the student language of young people in the health area of the University of
Cuenca, from a sociolinguistic perspective and considering that youth jargon is a particular social
communication tool that establishes a different style from the standard code. The objective is to
know and value the peculiarities of the university student group and their ways of communicating,
to include them as active and productive members within Cuenca's society, culture and academy.
The methodology is descriptive and qualitative: ethnography of speaking and uses the semistructured interview technique; Furthermore, it is supported by a dictionary plant created
exclusively for this study, which organizes the arrangement of the entries for the language studied.
As a result, 198 terms created and adapted by university students have been collected through
lexical, semantic and stylistic changes; use of rhetorical and literary figures; foreign language loans
and record changes. The conclusions highlight four aspects: grammatical categories, with a total
of 154 nouns, 29 adjectives, 8 verbs, 6 adverbs, 5 plurals and 1 exclamation; rhetorical creation
mechanisms, lexical-semantic 96 terms, morphological 72 terms, phonological 25 terms and the
syntactic 5 terms; the terms and their classification according to the fields, among the first three
places stands out student with 65 terms, occupation with 22 terms and subjects with 17; and,
finally, by semantic fields, the finding of 60.61% dedicated to specialized jargon and 39.39% to
student jargon. In general, it is concluded that young people use language to differentiate
themselves as a group and that the reformulation of specialized terms can be understood as a
process of appropriation of the terminology of the discipline |
Description: | La presente investigación estudia el lenguaje estudiantil de los jóvenes del área de la salud de la
Universidad de Cuenca, desde una perspectiva sociolingüística y considerando que la jerga juvenil
es una herramienta de comunicación social particular que establece un estilo diferente al del código
estándar. El objetivo es conocer y valorar las particularidades del grupo estudiantil universitario y
sus formas de comunicarse, para incluirlos como miembros activos y productivos dentro de la
sociedad, la cultura y la academia cuencana. La metodología es de tipo descriptiva y cualitativa:
etnografía del hablar y usa la técnica de la entrevista semiestructurada; además se apoya en una
planta de diccionario elaborada exclusivamente para este estudio, la cual organiza la disposición
de las entradas del lenguaje estudiado. Como resultados se han recolectado 198 términos creados
y adaptados por estudiantes universitarios mediante cambios léxicos, semánticos y estilísticos; uso
de figuras retóricas y literarias; préstamos de lenguas extranjeras y cambios de registros. Las
conclusiones destacan cuatro aspectos: categorías gramaticales, con un total de 154 sustantivos,
29 adjetivos, 8 verbos, 6 adverbios, 5 plurales y 1 exclamación; mecanismos de creación retórica,
léxico-semánticos 96 términos, morfológicas 72 términos, fonológicos 25 términos y los
sintácticos 5 términos; los términos y su clasificación según los ámbitos, entre los tres primeros
lugares se destaca estudiante con 65 términos, ocupación con 22 términos y asignaturas con 17; y,
por último, por campos semánticos es el hallazgo del 60,61% dedicado a la jerga especializada y
el 39,39% la jerga estudiantil. En general se concluye que los jóvenes usan el lenguaje para
diferenciarse como grupo y que la reformulación de términos especializados puede ser entendida
como un proceso de apropiación de la terminología de la disciplina |
