dc.description | Antecedentes: Los pólipos gastrointestinales en general representan un 3 al 4% en menores de 21 años, el 1% se encuentran en preescolares y escolares, siendo los pólipos rectales de tipo juvenil la lesión más frecuente en este grupo etario, cuya presentación clínica habitual es la rectorragia. Objetivo: Determinar el perfil clínico epidemiológico de pacientes con pólipos rectales en el área de Pediatría de los Hospitales José Carrasco Arteaga y Vicente Corral Moscoso. Cuenca, Ecuador durante el periodo 2012-2017. Metodología: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, con la participación de 79 pacientes que cumplieron los criterios de inclusión. La información de interés se recolectó de los expedientes médicos de los participantes y del sistema AS400 del Hospital José Carrasco Arteaga y MEDISYS del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó el programa SPSS versión 15, las variables cualitativas se presentan en forma de frecuencias y porcentajes, mientras que para las variables cuantitativas se empleó medidas de tendencia central como la media. Resultados: Se encontró predominio en el sexo masculino (60,8%), principalmente en la etapa escolar (50,6%), siendo la rectorragia la sintomatología más frecuente con un 75,9%, un 22,8% presentó masa palpable, según el tipo de pólipo morfológicamente un 79,7% fue pediculado, histológicamente un 67,1% fue hamartomatoso y según el número un 88,6% fueron únicos. Conclusiones: El pólipo rectal es frecuente en el sexo masculino y la rectorragia es la sintomatología principal, siendo el pólipo de tipo hamartomatoso el predominante. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Background: Gastrointestinal polyps in general represent 3 to 4% in children under 21 years of age, 1% are found in preschool and schoolchildren, with juvenile-type rectal polyps being the most frequent lesion in this age group, whose usual clinical presentation is rectal bleeding. Objective: To determine the epidemiological clinical profile of patients with rectal polyps in the Pediatrics area of the José Carrasco Arteaga and Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospitals. Cuenca, Ecuador during the period 2012-2017. Methodology: A descriptive study was carried out, with the participation of 79 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The information of interest was collected from the medical records of the participants and from the AS400 system of the Jose Carrasco Arteaga Hospital and MEDISYS of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital.
