| Abstract: | This research aims to make an iconographic analysis of the archaeological pieces of the
Cañari culture, regarding the two Cashaloma and Tacalshapa filiations. These pieces are in the
reserve of San Francisco de Azogues, which do not have any research. In addition, they have
been inventoried and registered by the Instituto Nacional del Patrimonio Cultural (INPC) and
the Sistema de Información del Patrimonio Cultural Ecuatoriano (SIPCE). For this study a
descriptive methodology will be used, where different variables will be analyzed such as:
dimensions, weight, morphological description, processing technique, surface finish, decorative
technique and design.
As for the classification of the pieces, it was used to analyze each one of them, in order
to group them according to their characteristics to the two filiations. To categorize them, their
design, slip color and shape were revised; with these it was possible to have thirteen pieces of
Cashaloma affiliation and thirteen pieces of Tacalshapa affiliation. In addition, it was verified
that they are complete and that they do not present fragments in a percentage greater than 50%
to achieve the iconography. It is worth mentioning that, in order to visualize the pieces, a catalog
was drawn up, which shows the individual identification cards of each one and small images of
the most outstanding details. The Said catalog has three thematic axes which are "The corporal",
"The bell-shaped" and "The geometric".
In relation to the first axis, like the second, they belong to the Tacalshapa culture, as they
show anthropomorphic forms and bell-shaped vessels, which are very representative of the
filiation. As for the third axis, this is based on the Cashaloma parentage, in which the very varied
and more elaborate designs, typical of this culture, stand out. With these characteristics and
variables, the use and functionality of the pieces was obtained, which were a fundamental part
in its period of time. The development of this research in the reserve helped to give a context to
these two affiliations, within the selected archaeological pieces, however there is still more
studies to be carried out that will help to discover our heritage and the identity that we carry
through cultures pre-columbian Ecuador. |
| Description: | La presente investigación tiene como objetivo dar a conocer las piezas arqueológicas de
la cultura Cañari, con respecto a las dos filiaciones Cashaloma y Tacalshapa. Estas piezas se
encuentran en la reserva de San Francisco de Azogues, mismas que no cuentan con ningún tipo
de investigación. Estas han sido inventariadas y registradas por el Instituto Nacional de
Patrimonio Cultural (INPC) y en el Sistema de Información del Patrimonio Cultural Ecuatoriano
(SIPCE). Para este estudio se utilizará una metodología descriptiva, donde se analizaran
diferentes variables como: dimensiones, peso, descripción morfológica, técnica de elaboración,
acabado de superficie, técnica decorativa y diseño.
En cuanto, a la clasificación de las piezas se recurrió a analizar cada una de ellas, para
agruparlas según sus características a las dos filiaciones. Para categorizarlas se revisó su diseño,
color de engobe y forma; con estas se pudo llegar a tener trece piezas de filiación Cashaloma y
trece piezas de la filiación Tacalshapa. Además, se verificó que estén completas y que no
presenten fragmentos en un porcentaje mayor al 50% para lograr realizar la iconografía. Cabe
mencionar que, para visualizar las piezas se elaboró un catálogo, donde se muestra las cédulas
individuales de cada una las piezas e imágenes pequeñas de los detalles más sobresalientes.
Dicho catálogo cuenta con tres ejes temáticos que son “Lo corporal”, “Lo campaniforme” y
“Lo geométrico”.
En relación con el primer eje, como el segundo pertenecen a la cultura Tacalshapa, pues
muestran formas antropomorfas y vasos campaniformes, los que son muy representativos de la
filiación. En cuanto al tercer eje, este se basa en la filiación Cashaloma, en la que sobresalen los
diseños muy variados y más elaborados, propios de esta cultura. Con estas características y
variables, se llegó a obtener el uso y funcionalidad de las piezas, las que formaron parte
fundamental en su periodo de tiempo. El desarrollo de esta investigación en la reserva ayudó a
que se pudiera dar un contexto a estas dos filiaciones, dentro de las piezas arqueológicas
seleccionadas, sin embargo aún queda por realizar más estudios que ayudarán a descubrir
nuestro patrimonio y la identidad que llevamos por las culturas precolombinas del Ecuador |
