Abstract
This monographic work proposes to investigate, analyze and reflect on the relationship that
exists between reading comprehension and meaningful learning. To achieve this objective, the
bibliographic contributions of various authors in the educational and psychological field were
analyzed, the most important and representative research topic were taken, the developing of
reading comprehension in students, as a tool, that helps increase their cognitive and
metacognitive skills. Likewise, the meaningful learning allows student to become the center of
the educational process, taking them as a critical and reflective human been in their own
learning process. It is also emphasized, that to developing a reading comprehension that helps
to obtain meaningful learning, the student must be able to relate previous ideas with the new
contents, to later store them in their memory, save and use them in different contexts, that means
going beyond a literal understanding of a writing to achieve a connection in the learners mind.
Resumen
El presente trabajo monográfico, propone investigar, analizar y reflexionar la relación que
existe entre la comprensión lectora y el aprendizaje significativo. Para lograr este objetivo, se
analizaron los aportes bibliográficos de varios autores en el campo educativo y psicológico, de
los cuales se tomaron los más importantes y representativos para el tema de investigación,
se resalta la importancia de desarrollar en los estudiantes la comprensión lectora, como una
herramienta que ayuda a incrementar sus habilidades cognitivas y metacognitivas. Así mismo,
el aprendizaje significativo permite al estudiante convertirse en el centro del proceso educativo,
tomándolo como un sujeto crítico y reflexivo de su propio proceso de aprendizaje. Se resalta
también, que para desarrollar una comprensión lectora que ayude a obtener un aprendizaje
significativo, el alumno debe estar en la capacidad de relacionar las ideas previas con los nuevos
contenidos, para posteriormente almacenarlos en su memoria, acomodarlos y usarlos en
diferentes contextos, lo que significa ir más allá de una comprensión literal de un escrito y
lograr una conexión en la mente de los educandos.
