Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas sobre climaterio y menopausia en mujeres de 40 a 64 años del Hospital básico de Paute, 2020 – 2021

Abstract

Background. Menopause is an inevitable stage in the life of women in which symptoms that affect daily performance occur, one in every four women experiences syntomps of moderate to severe intensity; thuse, it deserves to have information and knowledge on this subject that help to provide behaviors and practices in order combat these discomforts and promote good health. General Objective. to identify the knowledge, attitudes and practices about the climateric and menopause in women between 40 and 64 years of the ¨Hospital Básico de Paute¨ Methodology. A descriptive study was carried out based on 247 interviewed women, who attended the ¨Hospital Básico de Paute¨ during the months of october, november and december 2020, a structured survey created by the researchers was used as an instrument. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS 23, simple tables and graphs were created in EXCEL. Results. The mean age was 50.4 years, 73.2% of the women surveyed showed a low average about general knowledge, 71.1% mentioned favorable attitudes. Of the climateric participants, 53.3% used home remedies to alleviate the symptoms, 44.7% made changes in lifestyle and diet. Conclusions. In our study, population similarity was found regarding the reviewed bibliography, knowledge about climateric and menopause is present in most of the population, positive connotations on the subject prevail, they preferd traditional medicine.
