| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The growing development of the Internet of Things (IoT) has diversified its fields of application, improving not only its original approach to interconnection of people, but also, optimizing communication between systems and industrial machinery (M2M). Among the IoT features that can be exploited are the reach, scalability and low cost of deployment. The LoRa and LoRaWAN technologies are shown as one of the main low-cost wireless communication options, facilitating the integration of various industrial systems with a view to the new requirements of Industry 4.0. In this work, the design and deployment of a LoRaWAN sensor network compatible with OPC-UA was carried out, following the guidelines published by The LoRa Alliance and OPC Foundation. In addition, a measurement campaign was carried out in industrial environments and in clear urban areas, where link quality variables such as: RSSI, SNR and packet loss rate were collected. Initially, short-range scenarios (<100 m) have been considered in which a line of sight is maintained between the transmitter and the receiver. With the data obtained, the applicability of the LoRa and LoRaWAN technology within industrial environments with various sources of interference was evaluated. The wireless sensor network presented in this work is capable of being integrated into industrial systems with OPC-UA architecture. The design and configuration of the components was based on open source systems and low-cost development platforms, in order to facilitate the replicability and improvement of the project in future work. | en_US |
