| Abstract: | ABSTRACT
Background: This work is part of the "Of information and communication technologies" (ICT) research programme to improve the quality of maternal and neonatal care in the public services.
Objectives: The purpose of this research is to determine the major causes of morbidity and maternal and neonatal mortality in the Hospital Municipal de la Mujer y el Niño in 2010. We analyzed compliance with quality standards according to the standard of the Ministry of Public Health, which provide staff, infrastructure, equipment, supplies and satisfaction of women attending and developed a strategic proposal for improving perinatal care.
Methodology: A descriptive study, conducted at the Hospital Municipal de la Mujer y el Niño in 2010, 315 patients attended for childbirth, based on analysis of data collected from indirect sources: medical records, hospital discharges, perinatal histories (form 051), SIP database, qualifying standards.
Results: The main causes of morbidity are: urinary tract infection (43%), abnormalities of the dynamics of labor (22%), and hypertensive
disorders of pregnancy with proteinuria (7%).
Neonatal morbidity, neonatal jaundice from other causes by unidentified: (44%), respiratory (15%), pneumonia (5%), sepsis (3%). Neonatal deaths are not recorded. With regard to maternal and neonatal standard is met in more than 70%. There is a shortage of standard control chart partogram postpartum.
Conclusions: There was no maternal or neonatal mortality. The main cause of maternal morbidity is urinary tract infection and neonatal morbidity of neonatal jaundice. Compliance with quality standards implemented by the MSP is insufficient.

| Description: | Antecedentes: Este trabajo es parte del programa de investigación de Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación (TIC) para mejorar la calidad de la atención materna y neonatal en los servicios públicos. Objetivo: Determinar las principales causas de morbilidad y mortalidad materna y neonatal en el Hospital Municipal de la Mujer y el Niño en el año 2010. Analizar el cumplimiento de los estándares de calidad según la norma del Ministerio de Salud Pública. Elaborar una propuesta de gestión para el mejoramiento de la calidad de la atención materna y neonatal. Metodología: Es un estudio descriptivo, realizado con 315 mujeres atendidas por parto; en base al análisis de datos recolectados de fuentes indirectas: historias clínicas, egresos hospitalarios, historias clínicas perinatales (formulario 051), base de datos del SIP y calificación de los estándares de calidad. Resultados: Las principales causas de morbilidad materna fueron: infección de vías urinarias (43%), anormalidades de dinamia del trabajo de parto (22%), e hipertensión arterial inducida por gestación con proteinuria (7%). Las causas de morbilidad de los 316 neonatos fueron: Ictericia neonatal por otras causas y por las no identificadas: (44%), enfermedades respiratorias (15%), neumonía (5%), sepsis (3%). No se registraron muertes maternas ni neonatales. En relación a la norma materna y neonatal se cumple en más 70%. Déficit del estándar de control de postpartos y grafica del partograma. Conclusiones: No se registró mortalidad materna ni neonatal. La principal causa de morbilidad materna es infección de vías urinarias y de morbilidad neonatal es Ictericia neonatal. Los estándares de calidad no se cumplen en el 100% que exige la norma.au |
