| Abstract: | BACKGROUND:
HELLP syndrome is characterized by hemolysis (H), elevated liver enzymes (EL) and low
platelet count (LP), in pregnancy or postpartum (until 7 days postpartum) (1–3). It could
have complications for the pregnant as the fetus, there is its study`s importance (4).
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
To determine the characteristics of HELLP syndrome in pregnant women with diagnosis
of Severe Preeclampsia and Eclampsia, treated in “José Carrasco Arteaga” Hospital,
during July 2015 – June 2020.
METHODOLOGY:
A descriptive, retrospective and quantitative study was carried out, with 299 pregnant
women, mostly with Severe Preeclampsia; treated from July 2015 to June 2020. After
collection, the data were entered into a database designed in Excel. And subsequently,
they were analyzed by the IBM SPSS software.
RESULTS:
The prevalence of HELLP Syndrome was 11.4%, the mean age was 27 years, overweight
(41.2%) and obesity (26.5%). All pregnancies were with a single fetus, and ended by
caesarean section; the mean gestational age was 28.5 SG, mostly between 27 and 36.6
SG (61.8%). According to the Mississippi System; Class 2 (47.1%) was the most frequent,
followed by Class 3 (35.5%) and finally, Class 1 (17.6%).
CONCLUSION:
HELLP Syndrome is frequent in pregnant women with Severe Preeclampsia. |
| Resumen : | ANTECEDENTES:
El síndrome de HELLP se caracteriza por: hemólisis (H), elevación de las enzimas
hepáticas (EL) y bajo recuento plaquetario (LP), en embarazadas o mujeres en el
posparto (hasta los 7 días postparto) (1–3). Puede presentar complicaciones tanto para
la gestante como para el feto, es ahí en donde radica la importancia de su estudio (4).
OBJETIVO GENERAL:
Determinar las características del síndrome de HELLP en gestantes con diagnóstico de
preeclampsia severa y eclampsia, atendidas en el Hospital “José Carrasco Arteaga”,
periodo julio 2015 – junio 2020.
MATERIALES Y MÉTODOLOGÍA:
Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo y cuantitativo, la muestra lo constituyeron
299 gestantes, que fueron atendidas entre julio 2015 a junio 2020. Los datos
recolectados fueron ingresados en una base diseñada en Excel, y posteriormente,
analizados con el software IBM SPSS.
RESULTADOS:
La prevalencia de Síndrome de HELLP fue del 11.4%, la media de edad fue 27 años,
sobrepeso (41.2%) u obesidad (26.5%). Todos los embarazos fueron con feto único, y
finalizó por cesárea; la media de la edad gestacional fue de 28,5 SG, en su mayoría entre
las 27 a 36.6 SG (61.8%). De acuerdo al Sistema de Mississippi; la Clase 2 (47.1%) fue
la más frecuente, seguida por la Clase 3 (35.5%) y finalmente, la Clase 1 (17.6%).
CONCLUSION:
El Síndrome de HELLP es frecuente en las gestantes con Preeclampsia Severa. |
