Desarrollo de un sistema de monitoreo para la conservación de las edificaciones patrimoniales intervenidas en la campaña de mantenimiento Barrio El Vergel, calle Las Herrerías 2017 - 2018

Abstract

The El Vergel neighborhood is one of the oldest in the city of Cuenca. It extends along Las Herrerías Street, located between 12 de Abril and 10 de Agosto Streets, and belongs to the urban parish of Huayna Cápac. This place has and maintains tangible and intangible values that give it an exceptional character and great importance for the city. Considering these antecedents, the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Cuenca, through the project World Heritage City executed in 2018 the “Campaign of maintenance of the heritage buildings of the El Vergel neighborhood, Las Herrerías street”; with the objective of contributing to the conservation of the built cultural heritage of the city of Cuenca through maintenance actions carried out in 21 buildings of this neighborhood. This campaign followed the methodology of preventive conservation (ICOMOS, 2003), which has four phases: analysis, diagnosis, therapy and control. The first three phases were addressed and completed between 2017 and 2018. The development of the fourth phase was coordinated through a degree work, being this the contribution of the present research, which obtained as a result the Development of a monitoring system for the conservation of the heritage buildings intervened in the maintenance campaign of the El Vergel neighborhood, Las Herrerías street 2017 - 2018. Finally, this system proposes the participation of different local entities with knowledge and responsibility in the subject, as well as the collaboration and active presence of citizens in order to ensure the conservation of the built heritage in the El Vergel neighbourhood, Las Herrerías street.
