Prevalencia y factores asociados a depresión posparto en usuarias del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso. Cuenca, periodo 2019

Abstract

Background: The postpartum depression that affects an important population at the national and local level, with consequences on the health of mothers, her child and her social environment. Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence and factors associated with postpartum depression in hospitalized patients in the Department of Obstetrics at “Vicente Corral Moscoso” hospital during the year 2019. Methodology: This paper is guided in an observational, analytical and cross-sectional study where 320 randomly selected mothers who met the inclusion criteria participated. Furthermore, a data collection form with socio-demographic variables, Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EDPE) and questions related to factors associated with Postpartum Depression (DPP) were applied in this process. For this information processing, we use the SPSS 15 Software in the analysis frequencies, percentages, mean and standard deviation were applied to determine the chi-square association and p-value (<0.00), in addition to the prevalence ratio (RP) and 95% confidence interval. Results: Young adults accounted for 38.1%, of marital status free union in 41.6%, housewives with 72.8%, secondary education and urban residence in 61.9% and 89.4% respectively; with nutritional status of overweight by 45.0%. The prevalence of DPP was 2.8% and the associated factors were: history of DPP (RP 39.8, IC 95%, p = 0.00) and a dysfunctional family. (RP 18, IC 95%, p = 0.00). Conclusion: The prevalence of DPP was low and was related to: dysfunctional family and history of DPP.
