Perfil epidemiológico clínico del paciente con hipotiroidismo congénito en el Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, 2012 - 2016

Abstract

Background: congenital hypothyroidism represents the main cause of preventable intellectual disability, it must be diagnosed before 6 weeks of life, through neonatal screening that is currently performed in our country since 2012. [4,10]. Objective: determine the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of the patient with congenital hypothyroidism in the "vicente corral moscoso" hospital during the period from 2012 to 2016. Methods: it was a descriptive study, the universe was all patients diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism of the area of external consultation of the pediatric endocrinology and endocrinology pediatrics of the vicente corral moscoso hospital consisting of 34 patients. the data was collected in a form prepared by the researcher and the information was obtained from the clinical history. descriptive statistics was used. Results: the diagnosis of congenital hypothyroidism was made in older than one month in 50%. the most frequent sex group corresponds to the female with 64,7 %. 58,8 % came from the urban area. with regard to socioeconomic status, the most prevalent group was the lower middle stratum with 58,8%. the nutritional status was adequate in 82.3%. the main changes were a low weight 17.6%. 11.7% of the cases presented concomitant diseases and 52,9 % had clinical hypothyroidism. Conclusions: the diagnosis of congenital hypothyroidism is an important percentage is made after the month of life.
