Abstract

The project “Investigación periodística sobre migración en proceso de refugio en la ciudad de Cuenca: historias de vida de “Vanesa” y “Juan” (nombres protegidos), inmigrantes venezolanos” studies the human mobility process from Venezuela to Cuenca city, as well as the course of the refuge awarding, in the framework of the largest exodus of Latin America and the Caribbean, which had place in the period 2018 - 2019. Besides, this research analyzes Venezuelans immigrants’ situation in this city. Through the tackle several approaches, some of these are: economic, social, access to basic services, access to health, and education. The development of the life stories responds, on the one hand, to the need to humanize the data exposed during the chapters and the other hand shows human mobility inherent heterogeneity. A determinant factor for this study was the lack of data about this topic. Not only institutions and official entities do not have quantities, but also the media have been forced to work with tentative numbers. This fact limited their action field and as a result, a lot of journalistic work published is recalcitrant. For this reason, the objective of this project is to give real, clear and accurate information with a humanity approach about the Venezuelan immigration and accreditation refugee process in Cuenca. This was possible thanks to interviews, surveys, information gathering, and a rapprochement to the main characters of this mobility process.
