Abstract: | The historic center of Cuenca (CHC) declared as Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1999, has buildings with different typological characteristics, characteristics that have been preserved since its creation or have undergone changes when adapting to new time periods, the appearance of new materials or the change of use of the building; however, sources of information such as the Cadastre Database of the City of Cuenca have determined three representative typologies within the 0102, 0202 and 0203 zones in the CHC, which are: unreinforced masonry, perimeter tie beams and confined masonry.
Moreover, the CHC has been recognized as a high seismic hazard zone by the P-IDB 400 project: Seismic threat in the Austro, vulnerability and seismic risk in the City of Cuenca by the Austro seismic network; that is why under this context this study aims is to make building records from the architectural point of view, as well as their main characteristics based on their geometric and mechanical variability; the determination of these characteristics is carried out on the 3 typologies mentioned above, for which the buildings are two stories high and show irregularity in terms of their wall distribution.
In addition, a special software was used to help determine the seismic behavior of the two most representative typologies through a mathematical model and the application of a modal analysis. In this way, it will be determined whether or not the selected typologies meet the standards for earthquake resistant buildings. |
