Abstract: | This indagatory work seeks to describe the expectations of parental achievement in school children, taking as a starting point the explorations carried out by the research group of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Cuenca, which has interested in studying family socialization through parenting and the dimensions that underlie them. To understand the expectations of achievement present in parenting, the Theory of Self-Determination has been contemplated based on the Subtheory of Goal Content (Ryan and Deci, 2017). The research responds to a quantitative approach, with non-experimental design, of a cross-sectional type with descriptive scope, for this was handled the questionnaire Achievement Goals of Mageau, Bureau, Ranger, Allen and Soenes, (2015), inspired by the Achievement questionaire Goals Questionnaire by Elliot and McGregor (2001). 282 parents from 112 students from the levels of initial, elementary basic, basic middle and upper basic education of the morning day of the School of Basic Basic Education "Federico Proaño" of the City of Cuenca of the second chemistry of the 2018-2019. The results report indicates that in both parents there is a predominance in the mastery of the task as an expectation of achievement followed by the performance approach and avoidance to failure, this predominance exists regardless of the sociodemographic characteristics of representatives. These findings found that parents are directing parenting toward learning and success. |
