“Efecto de los aditivos: antibiótico, prebiótico y probiótico en el rendimiento y conteo microbiológico en pollos de engorde”

Abstract

Objective: to evaluate the effect of an antibiotic, prebiotic, probiotic and the mixture of prebiotic and probiotic on performance and microbiological count in broilers. Materials and methods: 400 one-day hybrid chickens (Cobb 500) were used, weighing 48.28 ± 2 g. A Random Block Design with 5 treatments and 4 repetitions was used. The treatments were: T1 = (negative control), T2 = (growth promoting antibiotic), T3 = MOS = (mannooligosaccharides), T4 = (Bacillus subtillis), T5 = (combination of MOS and BS). The variables evaluated were: live weight (g), food consumption (g), average daily gain (g), food conversion index (g), food efficiency (%), mortality (%) and microbiological count (CFU / gram of intestinal content) For the microbiological count, 2 chickens were taken at random at 21 and 49 days, for each experimental unit (n = 8), which were sacrificed to obtain portions of the ileum and blind, these were sent to the laboratory where it was performed the count (Salmonella spp. and E. coli). Results: T2 live weight reflected statistical differences (p <0.05) on days 0-21 of age, for the rest of the variables no statistical differences were found in any of the periods. The T4 obtained the best production costs. Conclusions: the use of these additives did not reflect marked variations; however, they are alternatives to the use of APC, due to their zero tendency to resistance and not leaving residues in animal products intended for human consumption
