| Abstract: | Background: Overweight and obesity are currently health problems that over time are increasing their incidence, these have been related as risk factors to develop cardiovascular problems, disorders of the locomotor system and hypertension.
Overall objective: To determine the prevalence of overweight, obesity and relate it to the presence of hypertension in adults aged 20 to 59 years old, from the San Miguel de Porotos parish.
Methodology: This is a descriptive cross study. Interviews were conducted with 180 inhabitants from 20 to 59 years old, from the San Miguel de Porotos Parish. The information collected in a form was processed with SPSS version 22.0 with descriptive statistics and presented in the form of frequencies and percentages. The relationship between the variables with the presence of HT through Odds ratio and the X2 statistic was evaluated.
Results: Women predominated, between 40 and 59 years old, housewives, and with 1st or 2nd level of educational level. The subjects with overweight (42.2%) and obese (32.2%) predominated. HTA was present in 30.6% of the cases. The associated risk factors alone did not show a significant relationship with the presence of HBP
Conclusions: Obesity has a statistically significant relationship with HBP, and the main risk factors are the increase in age and male sex, although the cause could be multifactorial |
| Description: | Antecedentes: El sobrepeso y la obesidad son actualmente problemas de salud que con el pasar del tiempo van aumentando su incidencia, estos se han visto relacionados como factores de riesgo para desarrollar problemas cardiovasculares, trastornos del aparato locomotor y la hipertensión arterial.
Objetivo general:
Determinar la prevalencia de sobrepeso, obesidad y relacionarla con la presencia de hipertensión en adultos residentes de 20 a 59 años, de la parroquia San Miguel de Porotos.
Metodología: Es un estudio analítico transversal. Se realizaron entrevistas a 180 habitantes de 20 a 59 años, de la Parroquia San Miguel de Porotos. La información fue recogida en un formulario que se procesó con SPSS versión 22.0 aplicándose estadística descriptiva y presentándose frecuencias y porcentajes los resultados. Se realizó el análisis bivariante mediante el estadígrafo X2, considerando significativo una p<0,05. Para evaluar la asociación de variables se calculó el OR y su intervalo de confianza al 95%.
Resultados: Predominaron las mujeres, entre 40 y 59 años, amas de casa, y con 1er o 2do nivel de nivel de instrucción. Predominaron los sujetos con sobrepeso (42,2%) y obesos (32,2%). La HTA estuvo presente en el 30,6% de los casos. La HTA se asoció significativamente con la obesidad (OR= 3,84; IC95%=1,534-9,619), edad de 40 años o más (OR= 3,073; IC95%=1,595-5,923) y sexo masculino (OR= 2,289; IC95%=1,071-4,892).
Conclusiones: La obesidad tiene una relación estadísticamente significativa con la HTA; los principales factores de riesgo son el aumento de la edad y el sexo masculino, aunque la causa pudiera ser multifactorial |
