| Abstract: | The objective of the present investigation was to evaluate neoplasms in dogs diagnosed by cytological study through a retrospective analysis according to race, age, sex, location, and cytological characteristics. In the study, a total of 352 clinical records of patients admitted to the Clinican Veterinary Clinic for cytological study were evaluated for having presented some type of neoplasm in the last 5 years. For the statistical analysis, frequency tables, chi-squared contingency and logistic regression were made, obtaining that the highest frequency of neoplastic cases was presented in 2015 (23%), according to the race a greater number of cases was obtained in dogs of high crossbreeding that in mestizos (75.9%), the age of greatest predisposition to neoplasms are in the range of 5-10 years (75.9%), females were the most affected presenting 51.7 % of cases Being the integumentary system with greater neoplastic cases (51.1%), and tumors of epithelial type the most frequent in terms of cellularity (38.1%); According to the behavior of the neoplasms, the benign type was slightly higher than the malignant ones, with 192 cases (54.5%), and it was found that the tumor that prevailed in the study was the mammary adenocarcinoma (9.1%). | Description: | La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar las neoplasias en perros diagnosticados por estudio citológico mediante un análisis retrospectivo de acuerdo a la raza, edad, sexo, localización, y características citológicas. En el estudio se evaluó un total de 352 historiales clínicos de pacientes que ingresaron a la Clínica Veterinaria Clinican para estudio citológico por haber presentado algún tipo de neoplasia en los últimos 5 años. Para el análisis estadístico se realizó tablas de frecuencias, contingencia con ji cuadrado y regresión logística, obteniendo que la mayor frecuencia de casos neoplásicos se presentaron en el año 2015 (23%), de acuerdo a la raza se obtuvo un mayor número de casos en perros de alta cruza que en mestizos (75,9%), la edad de mayor predisposición a las neoplasias se encuentran en el rango de 5-10 años (75,9%), las hembras fueron las más afectadas presentando el 51,7% de casos. Siendo el sistema tegumentario con mayor casos neoplásicos (51,1%), y los tumores de tipo epitelial los de mayor frecuencia en cuanto a la celularidad (38,1%); de acuerdo al comportamiento de las neoplasias las de tipo benigno fueron ligeramente mayor que las malignas presentándose 192 casos (54,5%), y se encontró que el tumor que prevaleció en el estudio fue el Adenocarcinoma mamario (9,1%). De todas estas variables las que tuvieron relación significativa con la aparición de las neoplasias fueron la edad, el sexo, el tipo de célula y la ubicación en la que se presentan |
