| Abstract: | General objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of an educational program with learning methodology based on problems guided to improve the level of knowledge attitudes and practices on Infections associated to cares of the health of the medicine interns of medicine of the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital during the year 2012.
Materials and Methods
It is a cuasiexperimental study with an it shows of 90 medicine students. The size of the sample was calculated on the base of 14% of appropriate knowledge (I date obtained of a study pilot carried out in 20 medicine interns) and possibility to improve until 50%; level of trust 95% and statistical power of 80%. The data were obtained by direct interview and they were analyzed with the Minitab 16 software.
Results
The participants in their majority were of feminine sex (49 - 54,55%), the age average in the individuals subject to the study was of 23 years. There were not adequate knowledge in the test picked up before the intervention in the study groups; however, after applying the educational program it was found that the level of knowledge improved in 26%, with a RR 0,13 (IC 95% 0,06 - 0,28) and a NNT similar to 1.
Conclusions: An educational model of learning based on problems, is effective to improve the level of knowledge, attitudes and practical of the medicine interns in relation to Hospital infections |
| Description: | Objetivo General: Evaluar la eficacia de un programa educativo con metodología de aprendizaje basado en problemas orientado a mejorar el nivel de conocimientos actitudes y prácticas sobre Infecciones asociadas a cuidados de la salud de los internos rotativos de medicina del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso durante el año 2012.
Materiales y Métodos
Se realizó un estudio cuasiexperimental en un muestra de 90 estudiantes de medicina. El tamaño de la muestra se calculó sobre la base del 14% de conocimientos adecuados (dato obtenido de un estudio piloto realizado en 20 internos de medicina) y posibilidad de mejorar hasta el 50%; nivel de confianza 95% y potencia estadística del 80%. Los datos se obtuvieron por entrevista directa y fueron analizados con el software Minitab 16.
Resultados
Los participantes en su mayoría fueron de sexo femenino (49 - 54,55%), el promedio de edad en los individuos sujetos al estudio fue de 23 años. No se encontró conocimientos adecuados en los test recogidos antes de la intervención en los grupos de estudio; sin embargo, luego de aplicar el programa educativo se encontró que el nivel de conocimientos mejoró en un 26%, con un RR de 0,13 (IC 95% 0,06 – 0,28) y un NNT igual a 1.
Conclusiones: Un modelo educativo de aprendizaje basado en problemas es eficaz para mejorar el nivel de conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas de los internos de medicina en relación a infecciones intrahospitalarias |
