Abstract: | Due to the innovation and the advances in the knowledge of the materials for the construction, the prefabrication of constructive elements for the architectural design becomes a better alternative in terms of quality, reduction of the execution times, greater security, durability and versatility in the design. All this thanks to the possible industrialization. So, the prefabricated module of mortar and fiber optics called Module MF or Panel MF seeks to innovate and be a useful model for architectural design by means of a translucent mortar.
The document has two parts:
1) The theoretical, where topics such as: prefabrication, materiality, mortar, mold, mortar texture, modulation and fiber optic as a light transmitter are developed. 2) The practice, here is the design of the mold and the mortar panel with fiber optics (Panel MF).
To verify the effectiveness of the design of the mold and the translucency generated by the fiber optics to the hardened mortar, two experiments were carried out: the first with fiber optic of 1.5 mm in diameter and the second with fiber optic with a diameter of 3 mm. In both cases, emphasis was placed on the construction of the mold and the placement of the fiber optic in it, the dosage of the mortar together with the black pigment, the resistance to compression of the mortar and, finally, the joint work of the mortar with fiber optics for the correct transfer of light.
Once the prefabricated sample was finished and the correct functioning between the component materials was verified, the MF Panel was applied in a preliminary housing project to establish it as a prefabricated option for the architectural design, and in turn shows the possibilities that it would generate in a work of architecture. |
