Prevalencia de taquipnea transitoria y factores asociados en el recién nacido del Área de Neonatología del Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso en el bienio 2015-2016

Abstract

Introduction: transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTRN) is a frequent respiratory condition in the newborns at or near term. Objective: to determine the prevalence of transient tachypnea and its associated factors in the newborn of the Area of Neonatology of the Hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, in the biennium 2015-2016. Materials and methods: observational, retrospective, analytical study of cross-sectional cohort. 834 neonates who met the inclusion criteria participated. Data collection was performed by reviewing medical records. For the statistical analysis, SPSS v.15 was used, frequencies and percentages were used for qualitative variables. For the hypothesis test, the chi-squared test was applied, with radio odds and a 95% confidence interval. The alternative hypothesis with a value of p <0.05 was accepted. All bioethical procedures were applied for research in humans. Results: the prevalence of TTRN was 29.5% and a statistically significant relationship was found with factors such as: RPM: (OR: 2.22, 95% CI 1.38- 3.57, P: 0.001), Asthma: (OR: 12.22, IC 95 % 4.11-36.31, P: 0.000), Diabetes. (OR: 6.07, 95% CI 1.17- 31.54, P: 0.015), Caesarean section (OR: 1.58, 95% CI 1.16- 2.15, P: 0.004), no statistical relationship was established with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy: (OR: 7.54, 95% CI 0.75-70.01, P: 0.045) (table 6). Conclusions: the prevalence of TTRN was higher in relation to the literature consulted in addition, evidencing a statistically relationship with factors such as: RPM, asthma, gestational diabetes and cesarean section
