Comunicación Intercultural. Estudio del caso: presencia de extranjeros en la ciudad de Cuenca

Abstract

During the last years, a big number of foreigners have come to Ecuador. Even, numerous laws have been implemented to protect and help these people to adapt easily. Specifically, for people of North America and Europe, Cuenca has become his favorite place. However, native cuencanos were not prepared for this event and the city has to adapt to this circumstance and to deal with it. The main goal of this paper is to determine the features of intercultural communication by the use of study case in the day by day coexistence of foreign citizens in Cuenca city. For this reason, chapter one is about the theory that was used to analyze the topic from the point of view of the intercultural communication. The second chapter talks about Cuenca’s story as a city where foreigners come to and its current situation as a destination for these people. In chapter three some interviews were carried out to authorities and people in general to know their thoughts and opinions; these interviews served as the basis of the documental that was recorded. Finally, in chapter four the results of this research are shown.
