Abstract: | This research proposes the study and elaboration of a conglomerate which use lime as an additional element within the Portland cement with high content of fly ash and observe how this contribution influencing the mechanical properties and chemical material.
The research project was divided into five stages, which were developed in the laboratory of quality of the Graiman industrial group cement - cement Atenas. In the first phase was drying (dry process) and the characterization of the raw material (clinker, limestone, gypsum, ash and calcium hydroxide) by x-ray fluorescence and diffraction x-ray, for in this way determine the quality of the raw material to be used. In the second stage was determined relations ash/calcium hydroxide and developed grinding of raw materials, with the following considerations: grinding of the OPC (clinker, limestone and gypsum), ash and calcium hydroxide separately and other grinding together, whereas mass/mass relations that will reduce the current use of the clinker in cement making. For the third stage was the quality control of the mixtures made to obtain the new binder. Was taken as the fundamental parameter resistance to compression and with the mix that I provide best results was carried out additional trials evaluated the setting time, expansion into bars of mortar, expansion in autoclave, density and air content.
Statistical software, MINITAB, which allowed to establish, with the results already obtained, the most optimal ratio of fly ash/calcium hydroxide was used in the fourth stage. Finally, the fifth phase of the project was used in Crystallographic Data Analyzer FULLPROF SUIT where you could analyze and quantify in more detail the crystallography of compounds formed in these new additions (OPC - CH - CV), mainly the C3S phase and thus allow a base to study more in depth of the crystallography of these new materials. |
