| Abstract: | Adolescence is a period of life in which the individual goes through several changes, including puberty and the development of their attitudes towards sexuality. The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about contraceptive methods and attitudes towards them, whether they are acceptance or rejection. For this, a quantitative study with non-experimental design and correlational scope was carried out in which 171 male and female students belonging to the first, second and third baccalaureate of the Armed Forces Education Unit N. 4 "Abdón Calderón participated." From the city of Cuenca. The results on knowledge levels revealed that 71.35% of adolescents have an inadequate level of knowledge about contraceptive methods. Regarding the acceptance or not of the use of contraceptive methods, the results reflect high levels of acceptance to their use 64.33%. By means of statistical tests, it was evidenced that there is no relationship between the variables of knowledge and acceptance, since, although it is true, there are few or inadequate knowledge, there is also a high attitude of acceptance to the use of contraceptive methods. These results justify the need to promote information on sexuality and contraceptive methods adequately both within their families and in schools. In addition, it raises the need to conduct more qualitative research concerning the subject. |
| Description: | La adolescencia es un periodo de vida en la que el individuo atraviesa varios cambios, entre ellos la pubertad y el desarrollo de sus actitudes hacia la sexualidad. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo conocer la relación entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre métodos anticonceptivos y las actitudes hacia los mismos, sean estas de aceptación o de rechazo. Para esto, se llevó a cabo un estudio cuantitativo con diseño no experimental y de alcance correlacional en el que participaron 171 estudiantes hombres y mujeres pertenecientes a primero, segundo y tercero de bachillerato de la Unidad Educativa de Fuerzas Armadas N. 4 “Abdón Calderón” de la ciudad de Cuenca. Los resultados sobre los niveles de conocimiento develaron que el 71,35% de adolescentes presentan un nivel inadecuado de conocimientos sobre métodos anticonceptivos. En cuanto a la aceptación o no del uso de métodos anticonceptivos, los resultados reflejan altos niveles de aceptación a su uso 64,33%. Mediante pruebas estadísticas, se evidenció que no existe relación entre las variables de conocimiento y de aceptación, puesto que, si bien es cierto, existen pocos o inadecuados conocimientos, también existe una alta actitud de aceptación al uso de métodos anticonceptivos. Estos resultados justifican la necesidad de promover información sobre sexualidad y métodos anticonceptivos de manera adecuada tanto al interior de sus familias como en los centros educativos. Además, plantea la necesidad de realizar más investigaciones de corte cualitativo concernientes al tema. |
