| Abstract: | Ecuador is one of the countries that has stipulated statutes to protect students with discapacities, with the goal of offering correct development in their educative setting. Nevertheless, it is necessary to investigate the environment that is trying to include the youth with discapacities, to know the attitudes of the other classmates. It is for this reason that the objective of this investigation is to show the types of attitudes of youth toward discapacities seeing that some social models permit downplaying the mechanisms of exclusion in the education setting. This study corresponds with a measurable focus with a descriptive reach, that counted on the participation of 179 first year high school students at the Manuel J Calle who ages range between 13 and 16 years old, with an average age of 15.32 years old. The instrument used was the Chedoke Mc Master Attitudes Towards Children with Handicaps (CATCH) scale (adapted in 2016 in the city of Cuenca). The scale developed measures the attitudes of children and youth toward their handicapped classmates through 3 dimensions: the affective, cognitive and behavioral. The obtained results show that youth have a favorable attitude toward their handicapped classmates (= 2.90), and with respect to the dimensions, the results point out mediums equivalent to a favorable attitude of the three dimensions. Finally, the results report that there does not exist a significant statistical difference with respect to the sex nor in the dimensions. |
| Description: | El Ecuador, forma parte de los países, que han estipulado estatutos para amparar a los estudiantes con discapacidad, con la finalidad de brindar un correcto desenvolvimiento en su entorno educativo, sin embargo, se hace necesario investigar el ambiente donde se da la inclusión del adolescente con discapacidad, para conocer cuál es la actitud que toman los compañeros de aula. Es por esto que la presente investigación tiene como objetivo, evidenciar los tipos de actitudes de los adolescentes hacia la discapacidad ya que desde un modelo social permite disminuir los mecanismos de exclusión en el ámbito educativo. Este estudio corresponde a un enfoque cuantitativo con alcance descriptivo, se contó con la participación de 179 estudiantes del primero de bachillerato, de la Unidad Educativa Manuel J Calle cuyas edades oscilan entre 13 y 16 años y una edad media de 15.32 años. El instrumento que se empleó fue, el Chedoke Mc Master Attitudes Towards Children with Handicaps (CATCH) scale, (adaptación 2016 en la ciudad de Cuenca), escala desarrollada para medir las actitudes de los niños y adolescentes hacia sus compañeros con discapacidad a través de tres dimensiones: la afectiva, cognitiva y comportamental. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que los adolescentes tienen una actitud favorable hacia sus compañeros con discapacidad (= 2.90) y con respecto a las dimensiones, los resultados apuntan medias que equivalen a una actitud favorable para los tres ámbitos. Finalmente, los resultados reportan que no existe una diferencia estadísticamente significativa con respecto a la variable sexo y tampoco en las dimensiones. |
