Abstract: | The present work has as a general objective: The correlation to level of stress perception with the usage of strategies of spiritual coping in incarcerated women. This research used a quantitative approach, of correlational scope, whose design was of a transversal - not experimental type. This study was conducted with 59 inmates from "Centro de rehabilitación social Zaruma", aged between 18 and 67 years, with sentence times between 10 and 300 months (10 months to 25 years). Data was obtained through using of Sociodemographic Record, Cohen Global Stress Perception Scale (SPS) and Baldacchino Spiritual Coping Scale (SCS). After the statistical analysis, the results have indicated that, there is no significant relationship between the level of perception of stress and the usage of spiritual coping strategies (religious and non-religious). The stress perception scale indicated that the incarcerated women have presented average level of stress. In terms of the spiritual coping scale, the results indicated that the frequency of use of non-religious coping strategies were the most used, taking into account that 76.3% of the participants reported belonging to the Catholic religion. It is concluded that the stress perception that inmates present in the prison environment, is not related to the use or frequency of strategies spiritual coping, in addition, these variables are not associated at sociodemographic aspects such as religion type, sentence time or relationship with children. |
