Ansiedad y depresión en padres alejados de sus hijos por causas de separación o divorcio

Abstract

Divorce or separation in parents is known to cause consequences in the people who had experienced it. However, recent researches had been focused on finding what happen with the children in the home that ignore the parents who leave their children behind. The objective of this study was to identify the levels of anxiety and depression in the parents who move away from their children in Cuenca city. Therefore, this study is focused in a quantitative way with a non-experimental scope of descriptive type, because it details the levels of anxiety and depression in the maternal or paternal figure who moves away from their children after the divorce or separation. It should be noted that this cross-sectional investigation since the data was taken at a specific time. The research consisted of 55 participants, 20 women and 35 men aged between 21 to 61 years. The materials used for this research were the Hamilton Anxiety Test (Lobo, Chamorro, Luque, Dal-Ré, Badia, Baró, 2002) and the Beck Depression Inventory (Sanz, Garcia-Vera, Espinosa, Fortún, & Vazquez, 2005). The results showed that 100% of women experienced different levels of anxiety and depression. While, 71.4% of men have depression at different levels and 85.7% equally present anxiety at different levels. This research shows that there is a great percentage of women who have emotional repercussions after the removal of their children than men.
