| Abstract: | The area of Azuay, in Ecuador is known for possessing an important artistic and artisan legacy. The existence of ceramic minerals in the province and surrounding areas has led artisans and artists to use these materials to create their works. A level of craftsmanship, one of the problems existing in the little diversification of the crafts that are produced. Therefore, it is of relevance to study other ceramic techniques with the purpose of promoting the diversification of products. The Raku is an ancient technique that has its origin in Japan. Raku pieces are characterized for their unique artistic details which are unrepeatable. The objective of this work was to obtain a ceramic paste with local materials and to couple primary enamels to be used in the Raku technique. For them, three rounds of dosing were carried out. 19 different pastas were prepared and tested. To choose the paste, plasticity, cohesion and resistance to thermal shock were considered. At the end, the paste VII was chosen. Three commercial enamel bases were coupled. During the tests were obtained pieces with different artistic effects. |
| Description: | La zona del Azuay, en Ecuador es conocida por poseer un importante legado artístico y artesano. La existencia de minas cerámicas en la provincia y cercanías han propiciado que artesanos y artistas usen estos materiales para crear sus obras. A nivel artesanal, uno de los problemas existentes es la poca diversificación de las artesanías que se producen, traduciéndose en una excesiva oferta de los mismos productos. Por ello, es de relevancia el estudiar otras técnicas cerámicas con el propósito de fomentar la diversificación de la oferta. El Raku es una técnica milenaria que tiene su origen en Japón con esta se consiguen detalles artísticos únicos e irrepetibles generando valor agregado a la obra cerámica. El objetivo de este trabajo fue obtener una pasta cerámica con materiales locales y acoplar esmaltes primarios para ser usados en la técnica Raku. Para ello, se realizaron tres rondas de dosificaciones preparándose 19 pastas diferentes. Para elegir la pasta se consideró la plasticidad, la cohesión y la resistencia al choque térmico. Al final se eligió la pasta VII. Se acoplaron tres bases de esmalte comercial. Durante las pruebas se consiguieron piezas con efectos artísticos diferentes, como craquelado y terminado metálico. |
