| Abstract: | Background
Anxiety disorders of children constitute a health problem, since there is a significant prevalence ranging from 2.6 to 41.2% (1).
General Objective
Determine the prevalence of anxiety and its associated factors in students of the "Sagrado Corazón" school Cuenca. 2017.
Methodology
Cross-sectional study, which included 328 children from fifth to tenth grade of the "Sagrado Corazón" school; To determine anxiety, the Spence Scale, family functionality with the family APGAR, self-esteem with the Rosenberg scale, attention with the Scale D2 and the rest of the variables were used with the questionnaire prepared by the authors. The relationship of factors associated with anxiety was determined, using the prevalence ratio (PR) with an accuracy of 95% confidence interval (CI), with a statistical significance verified by X2 with its value (p) <0, 05.
Result
The prevalence of anxiety in this study was 40.5%. The average age was 10.8 years between 8 to 14 years. The first stage of adolescence represented 75%. The female sex was the most frequent with 66.2%. A statistically significant association was determined with: female sex, belonging to a dysfunctional family and having low self-esteem, with: RP> 1; IC (95%)> 1; Value (p) <0.05.
Conclusions
Students with anxiety had a risk factor belonging to the female sex, being from a dysfunctional family and having low self-esteem, as a protective factor the instruction was found. |

Los trastornos de ansiedad de los niño/as constituyen un problema de salud, ya que existe una prevalencia significativa que va del 2.6 al 41.2% (1).
Objetivo general
Determinar la prevalencia de ansiedad y sus factores asociados en estudiantes de la escuela “Sagrado Corazón” Cuenca. 2017.
Metodología
Estudio transversal, que incluyó a 328 niños/as de quinto a décimo de básica de la escuela “Sagrado Corazón”; para determinar la ansiedad se utilizó la Escala de Spence, la funcionalidad familiar con el APGAR familiar, la autoestima con la escala de Rosenberg, la atención con la Escala D2 y el resto de variables con el cuestionario elaborado por las autoras. Se determinó la relación de factores asociados a la ansiedad, mediante la razón de prevalencia (RP) con una precisión del intervalo de confianza (IC) al 95%, con una significancia estadística comprobada mediante el X2 con su valor (p) < 0,05.
Resultado
La prevalencia de ansiedad en este estudio fue de 40,5%. La media de edad fue de 10,8 años entre 8 a 14 años. La primera etapa de la adolescencia representó el 75%. El sexo femenino fue el de mayor frecuencia con 66,2%. Se determinó asociación estadísticamente significativa con: el sexo femenino, pertenecer a una familia disfuncional y tener una autoestima baja, con: RP >1; IC (95%) >1; Valor (p) < 0,05.
Conclusiones
Los estudiantes con ansiedad tuvieron como factor de riesgo pertenecer al sexo femenino, ser de una familia disfuncional y tener autoestima baja, como factor de protección se encontró la instrucción. |
